Âmbito e conteúdo
This subseries contains records related to the exhibition project "Relations". It was exposed at the Articule Gallery in Montreal in 1981, at the Dazibao Photography Gallery in Montreal in 1982, and at the Toronto Photographers Workshop in Toronto in 1984. In "Relations", women alone, with each other and/or with children and men are centrals. The social reality of women's experience in a male-dominated, male-defined world is the starting point of her photograph work. "A constant awareness of the need to challenge the predominant stereotypes of women" informs her approach. The artist group black-and-white images in complexes of 2, 4, 12 in order to "define and expand each other's implications and meanings in a radiating circular, rather than in a linear sequence. Images play off and enrich each other. While each image has an independent viability and vitality, it also has a place in a unifying context, broadening and deepening the meanings of the single image beyond its own frame of reference". During the exhibition of "Relations" at Dazibao, writer Greta Hoffman Nemiroff, painter Alanna Stalker Horner and Judith Lemer Crawley collaborated in a slide/talk dialogue/presentation which later became the essay "Art and Daily Life".

"Images play off and enrich each other.
