Scope and content

This subseries contains records related to the exhibition " One in Five…". The project combines photographs of Judith Crawley's children taken since the death of their father with their comments and her memories as a single parent. "One in Five..." was a personal and cinematic installation, exploring her own voice as a single parent and photographer. This project interlaces texts, images made over a 13 years period, dialogues drawn from her reflexions, interviews with her children in response to the work, and statistics locating her personal work in a political context. Images and text interact. The sequencing of images and text has a filmic quality, inviting viewers to "read" through it and draw connections to their own history. The project has been exhibited at several places: L’Espace F, Matane 1998; Vaste et Vague, Carleton 1997; Séquence, Chicoutimi; Latitude 53, Edmonton 1996; Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax 1995; Mois de la photo à Montréal, Vox; Photo Passage, Harbourfront, Toronto 1993.
