Scope and content

This sub-series contains documents related to MAW's campaign for the economic recognition of women's unpaid labour in the home, including policy briefs, political correspondence, project reports, and research materials on the measurement and valuation of unpaid work and home care. Through this sub-series, one can learn about MAW campaigns including "Count Us In!," "When Women Count," and "Work is Work is Work." MAW primarily fought for the inclusion of unpaid labour in federal census data, which they used to generate research material on women's unrecognized contribution to the Canadian economy. In doing so, they produced a valuable resource called the "When Women Count Manual on Unpaid Work," which is also included here. Additionally, this file contains internal correspondence, meeting minutes, conference proceedings, and workshop summaries related to these projects.
