Scope and content

The video is an oral history of the Ottawa Women's Lobby (OWL) founded in 1977 and active until the mid-1990s. The video features OWL founding members Shirley Greenberg, Kay Marshall, Pat Hacker, and Rosemary Billings. The video also features long-time OWL members, Carol Paschal and Wendy Lawrence. OWL was a feminist political action group whose purpose was to lobby municipal, provincial, and federal governments to improve women's rights in areas like childcare, equal pay, financial support for women's shelters, unemployment rates of women, and family law reform. Film credits list Wendy Lawrence and Anne Betz (archival research), Pat Masters (interview questions), and Rob Oehring (videographer and editor). Topics include second-wave feminism, the history of OWL, and the women's movement in Ottawa.
