Fonds consists of briefs, statements, press releases, brochures, correspondence, minutes, agendas, pamphlets, photographs, clippings, print-outs of Wikipedia and Encyclopedia pages, and various other materials pertaining to the activities of the Ottawa Women's Lobby (OWL). The fonds is divided into three series: Public Statements, Operations and Administration, and Photographs, Clippings, and Print-outs.

Public Statements

Series consists of briefs, statements, press releases and brochures. Series also contains relevant material pertaining to the public statements of OWL, including correspondence and notes.

OWL : Briefs, Statements

File consists of: a submission from the Ottawa Women's Lobby to the Commission of Enquiry on Equality in Employment, with related correspondence and note from Wendy Lawrence; a presentation by OWL to the Special Committee on Child Care entitled "Child care in Canada today"; a brief from OWL to the Parliamentary Committee on Bill C-70 on family allowances (accompanied by editing marks by "Shirley", handwritten notes, a fact sheet, petition, an Action bulletin from October 122, 1985, and related correspondence); a "Draft of presentation by Ottawa Women's Lobby on equal pay for work of equal value"; and an OWL brief on "Women and violence".

OWL : Brochures

File consists of drafts and final copies of brochures accompanied by handwritten notes on the structure of one of the brochures by Wendy Lawrence.

Operations and Administration

Series consists of minutes, agendas, correspondence, memorandums, notes, guide booklets, press releases, pages from newsletters, pamphlets, and other material related to the activities—operations and administration—of OWL.

OWL : Meetings

File consists of documents calling meetings to action, as well as agendas and minutes for meetings concerning provincial, federal, and women's issues. File also includes an interview with Bob de Cotret by Cory Rundell and Shirley Greenberg, a fax message from Pat Banners on a document pertaining to an informal discussion and pot luck, and some correspondence between Shirley Greenberg, Helen Levine and Patt Banners accompanied by an article entitled "The Feminist Mystique / by Karen Lehrman", a facsimile of names with phone numbers, and handwritten notes.

OWL : Handwritten - Miscellaneous

File consists primarily of informal handwritten notes, some by Wendy Lawrence in advance of meetings or written at meetings, as well as a couple of typescript meeting minutes and agendas. Topics discussed at meetings include daycare, pornography, equal pay, pensions, divorce, health care, elections, etc. File also includes material related to issues discussed at meetings and in notes such as clippings, correspondence, a memo from Women in Information Processing, a pro-choice postcard, and pages from [newsletters?].

Ottawa Women's Lobby : [meeting material]

File consists of meeting minutes, agendas, agenda proposals, and notes from/for meetings. Most meetings appear to be held at the Chelsea Club. File also includes a draft proposal for the need for an Advisory Committee on the Status of Women, correspondence from Pat Petrala to Cindy Wiggins inviting a speaker or presentation from Ottawa Women Fight Pornography, a Steering Committee report, and a photocopy of an article entitled "Reading Jo Freeman: notes from Wendy Lawrence for a discussion on the OCSW" original date [1975?].
