General note
The Maenad Theatre Productions was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1987 by Alexandria Patience, Nancy Jo Cullen and Rose Scollard; the company was woman-centered and aimed to develop new works by women and "to reinstate the maenadic wild women of Greece to their rightful place in the theatrical spectrum." Alexandria Patience was the Artistic Director. All three of the founders wrote plays. The company folded in 2001. For more information see "Maenad : Alberta's Own and Only Feminist Theatre" / Diana Marie Klassen. -- unpublished MA thesis, University of Alberta, 1996.
