Nancy Lee Adamson (born 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA) was a professor, university administrator, and a founding member of the Canadian Women's Movement Archive Collective and its predecessor, the Women's Information Centre (WIC).

Nancy Adamson is a feminist activist. She has been involved in university administration for more than 20 years and has been a lecturer since 1979. Her area of expertise was gender issues, women’s studies, and confronting sexual harassment in the workplace. Nancy Adamson is co-author of “Feminist Organizing for Change: The Contemporary Women's Movement in Canada”, published in 1989, an in-depth analysis of the contemporary Canadian feminist movement.

Nancy Adamson holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Mount Holyoke College, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Toronto, a master’s in history from Emory University, and a PhD in History (1983) from the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto, she established the Sexual Harassment Office and worked as a counsellor. From 1991 to 2000 she worked at Carleton University (Ottawa, Ont.) in the Status of Women Office and Equity Services.

Nancy Adamson is a founding member of the Galen University in Belize, which opened its doors in 2003. She served as Provost of the University, professor, CEO, vice president and president.

"Wendy McPeake was involved in the creation of cultural products, including museum exhibits, revenue-generating publications and products, promotional publications, and commercial operations. She obtained a Bachelor of Art in English Literature from the University of Ottawa in 1971 and also studied at the Université d’Aix-en-Provence in 1972 and 1973, as well as completing courses in management publishing. In the late 1970s, Wendy McPeake was involved in various groups and organizations working on women's issues. She was very active in the Ottawa Women's Centre, frequently sitting on the Policy Committee. She was involved in organizing various events, including a musical fundraiser in 1977 with the artists Angele Arsenault, CT & April, and Ellen McIllwaine, as well as another concert fundraiser that featured Rita MacNeil.
Wendy McPeake founded and was a very active member of the Political Action Collective, renamed the Feminist Action Collective in 1981. She worked as a marketing manager at the National Museums of Canada (1980 to 1984), as Assistant to the Director of Publishing at McClelland and Stewart publishing house (1984-1985), as Director, Publishing and Product Development at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology Corporation (1985-1995), and as Director Commercial Operations at the Canada Museum of Science and Technology Corporation (1994-1998). She is currently a freelance publishing consultant and editor.

This recording consists of Nancy Adamson's interview with Wendy McPeake in Ottawa on 9 September 1992. Wendy discusses her early involvement with the women's movement, and working for group and organization phone lines, predominantly with the Women's Centre in Ottawa. She notes that she was drawn into the women's movement after reading feminist literature, becoming involved in CR [consciousness raising] groups whilst in Europe, and following the birth of her child. Wendy and Nancy discuss women's newsletter; differences and controversies in the women's movement in Ottawa and in Canada; employment and volunteering; views towards marriage, relationships, children and motherhood; the formation and dissolution of groups; lesbianism and lesbian action within the women's movement; feminist consciousness and its evolution; queer identity; clothing style and perceptions; francophone women's involvement; group meetings and their historical record; left-wing politics and groups; and more. Wendy also briefly discusses her involvement with Interval House early on as a volunteer and as a board member in 1992. [There is a pause between A and B sides of the tape in this recording at 00:53:30-00:54:34.] In the second half of the recording, Wendy and Nancy revisit several of the above-mentioned topics and further discuss radical feminism's views on pornography; the Women's Centre and Upstream closures in 1980; the task force on violence against women and NAC conference; SORWUC [Service, Office and Retail Workers of Canada]; a women's strike; take back the night in Ottawa; and more. Nancy discusses the move of the women's movement archives [CWMA] to the University of Ottawa and record keeping within the women's movement more generally. [Note that throughout some sections of the recording there are pauses due to interruptions, including to eat dinner and for a telephone call (00:38:00-00:40:30)].
