This fonds consists of the administrative records of the conception of the Service Office Retail Workers Union of Canada (SORWUC) Local 7 in Ottawa from its beginnings in 1982 as part of reason for change particularly addressing inequality faced by women in the workplace in various aspects. It features correspondence, advertisements to join the union, pieces of bargaining and negotiation, member contact information. Also included are resources such as newspaper clippings, pamphlets, booklets, buttons, and articles on various subjects as used and promoted by members of SORWUC.

The fonds documents the organization's interest in and support for research on women's conditions in Canada and internationally. Articles (CRIAW papers) and the publication (Feminist Perspectives) released by the organization are contained in the fonds. The fonds includes important documentary resources on the emerging debates in the 1980s and 1990s on the development of reproductive and genetic technologies and their effects on women. MAW primarily lobbied for the Canadian government's recognition of homemakers' contribution to the national economy, and collected an abundance of research material related to these efforts. Additionally, this fonds contains documents relating to the group's publication of Homebase magazine, and other outreach activities, such as workshops and symposiums. There are two audio cassettes featuring interviews with Maureen Kellerman on radio programs, and a number of objects promoting MAW's various events and campaigns.
