Staton, Patricia Anne (Pat)

Patricia Anne Staton (née Morden) was a feminist publisher and advocate for persons with disabilities. She was raised in Humber Bay, Toronto, before she completed the Commercial Art Program at Western Technical School. She met Robert Thomas Staton while working at the broadsheet newspaper, Toronto Telegram. The couple were married in 1953 and had four daughters.

Patricia Staton’s feminist beliefs developed in the 1960s while she completed her bachelor’s degree and masters of education in women's studies—all while raising four daughters and working full time. Upon graduating, Patricia Staton worked at the University of Toronto before moving to the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Along with husband, Bob, and daughter, Deirdre, Staton helped found the CHORD co-op building, an Ontario cooperative building for the differently abled. She was also a founding member of the Ontario Women's History Network, which developed teaching resources on women's history.

For decades, Patricia Staton also operated Green Dragon Press, an independent Canadian and feminist press. Together with Beth Light she co-wrote, “Speak With Their Own Voices: A Documentary History of the Federation of Women Teachers' Association of Ontario and the Women Elementary Public School Teachers of Ontario,” in 1987.

Elle a grandi à Humber Bay, à Toronto, avant de suivre le programme d'art commercial de la Western Technical School.
