Following the 1984 publication of Sisterhood is Global: The International Women’s Movement Anthology, edited by Robin Morgan, the Sisterhood Is Global Institute (SIGI) was founded to mobilize international support on women’s rights issues and to provide education on women’s rights issues. In 1999, the Sisterhood is Global Institute’s headquarters was moved to Montreal, Canada, before it returned to the United States in 2004.
