Scope and content
This series consists of documents providing important and extensive information on organizations aimed at the conservation and survival of the Slovak heritage, and on other political and cultural corporate bodies devoted to the promotion and defense of rights of minorities in Europe and in America. The type and amount of documents collected under each of the 57 organizations vary considerably and cover a wide spectrum of subjects, from the creation, history and constitution of an organization, to its internal operations, public activities, congress and conferences, publications, etc. It consists of form letters, official and informal correspondence between members/or Officers, agenda and minutes of meetings, programs and proceedings of conferences, public declarations, position papers, briefs, press releases, journals, newsletters, newspaper clippings, etc. Documents gathered in Series V give us an excellent insight into the life of various European and North American Organizations while testifying to the level of Dr. Mikuš’ personal involvement in “the Slovak cause” through his various memberships and active committee work.
