Biographical history

Nancy Lee Adamson (born 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA) was a professor, university administrator, and a founding member of the Canadian Women's Movement Archive Collective and its predecessor, the Women's Information Centre (WIC). She holds degrees from Mt. Holyoke College, Emory University, and the University of Toronto, receiving her PhD in 1983. At the University of Toronto, she established the Sexual Harassment Office and worked as a counsellor. From 1991 to 2000 she worked at Carleton University (Ottawa, Ont.) in the Status of Women Office and Equity Services. She is currently working in university administration in Belize.

Elle est diplômée du Mt. Holyoke College, de l'Emory University et de l'Université de Toronto, où elle a obtenu son doctorat en 1983. À l'université de Toronto, elle a créé le Bureau du harcèlement sexuel et travaillé comme conseillère. Scope and content

The fonds consists of records created and collected by Nancy Adamson during her time living at the Collective House in Toronto and working at the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, the Canadian Women's Movement Archives, the Canadian Women's Studies Association and the Status of Women Office at Carleton University. The fonds also contains records collected by Adamson on a variety of topics including sexual assault and violence against women, reproductive justice and many other issues affecting women.

The fonds also contains a series of audio recordings of oral history interviews of Ontario feminists conducted by Adamson. The fonds also contains photographs taken by Adamson at various events.

Le fonds est constitué de documents créés et recueillis par Nancy Adamson lorsqu'elle travaillait au Comité national d'action sur le statut de la femme, aux Archives canadiennes du mouvement des femmes , à l'Association canadienne d'études féminines et au Bureau de la condition féminine de l'Université Carleton. Le fonds contient également des documents recueillis par Mme Adamson sur divers sujets, notamment les agressions sexuelles et la violence faite aux femmes, la justice en matière de procréation et bien d'autres questions touchant les femmes.

Le fonds contient également une série d'enregistrements audio d'entretiens d'histoire orale menés par Mme Adamson auprès de féministes ontariennes. Le fonds contient également des photographies prises par Mme Adamson lors de divers événements.
