Manitoba Action Committee on the Status of Women (MACSW) was established in 1971 as a non-profit feminist organization. Their goal was to remove inequalities affecting women by working through lobbying efforts and public education. MACSW was interested in several issues including violence against women, sexual harassment and rape, pay equity, women's health, etc. They published a newsletter called ACTION which was published bi-monthly.
MACSW was closed in 1999 after federal funding cutbacks.

This fonds consists of records from and collected by the Manitoba Action Committee on Status of Women. It contains correspondence, reports, articles, resource information on various organizations in Manitoba (mostly in Winnipeg). It also includes records from a research project on women's health, employment and abortion organized during summer 1980.
