Campaigns and Subject Files

Series consists of records of NAC priority actions and issue campaigns for each year dealing with various subjects. The series also includes other issue-oriented events that were not sponsored by NAC but were a concern for women (ie. International Women’s Year 1975, or Free Trade).

The National Action Committee on Status of Women (NAC) fonds reflects the everyday activities of Canada’s largest lobbying women’s group. The fonds is structured in 11 series that document NAC’s creation, administrative activities, membership management and financial activities. The fonds is strong in meeting minutes, annual general meeting minutes, campaigns, subject files, correspondence, and personnel files. The records consist mostly of textual material as well as limited photographs, audiovisual material, and t-shirts.

Le fonds du Comité national d'action sur le statut de la femme (CNA) reflète les activités quotidiennes du plus important groupe de femmes lobbyistes au Canada. Le fonds est structuré en 11 séries qui documentent la création du CNA, ses activités administratives, la gestion de ses membres et ses activités financières. Le fonds est riche en procès-verbaux de réunions, en procès-verbaux d'assemblées générales annuelles, en campagnes, en dossiers thématiques, en correspondance et en dossiers du personnel. Les documents sont principalement constitués de matériel textuel ainsi que de quelques photographies, de matériel audiovisuel et de t-shirts.

Photographs of NAC members and events

This series documents NAC members' participation at events, such as mid-year meetings and Annual General Meetings. The photographs show participants addressing meetings and parliamentary caucus' and also participating in demonstrations on Parliament Hill and engaging in protests against federal budget cuts.

The file includes headshots and portraits of former NAC presidents, as well as group photographs.

International Women's Movement

Sub series consists of records related to the International Women's Movement. More specifically the material pertains to the International Women's Year (IWY)/ Internation Women's Day (IWD), the equal rights amendment, the World Conference of the United Nations Decade for Women 1980 in Copenhagen, IWY conference, etc.
