This series consists of material related to Committed to the Sane Asylum: Narratives on Mental Wellness and Healing is an essay written by Susan Schellenberg and Rosemary Barnes and publiched at Wilfrid Laurier Press in 2009. Susan, an artist and former psychiatric patient, and Rosemary, a psychologist, relate personal stories of how emotional pain - typically named as mental illness - can be best addressed by living with an eye to delight and commitment to healing. Among other things, the book describes how 1960s and 1970s social and religious expectations of woman, together with lack of recognition for the impact of childhood trauma, affected Rosemary and Susan's lives and describes experiences that helped each to heal, including the influence of feminist movement.
