Scope and content

This file contains audio recordings of interviews conducted by Nancy Adamson with various women of the Ottawa and Thunder Bay regions in 1992. Interviewees discuss how they became involved and their experiences with various organizations and groups. Interviews about Ottawa discuss the history of the Women's Centre and Women's Place, Interval House, Upstream, taskforces and other services, as well as the general women's liberation culture in the city during the 1970s and 1980s. Interviews about Thunder Bay discuss the growth of the women's movement in the region, the Abortion Caravan, the 1973 [Northern Woman's] Conference, development of services such as the [Northwestern Ontario] Women's Centre, [Northern Woman's] Journal and the Northwestern Ontario Women's Decade Council, and more.
