The Archives and Special Collections acquires, preserves, and provides access to archival documents in all media formats as well as rare books and other publications that support teaching and research at the University of Ottawa.

Our main collecting areas are the Canadian Women's Archives, the Canadian Slovak Archives and the Literary Archives.

The Canadian Women's Archives area contain more than 150 archival fonds and collections related to the history of women in Canada, with particular emphasis on the feminist movement since the 1960s. Both individuals and grassroots organizations who worked to improve the political, social, and economic conditions of Canadian women are represented in this unique collection. It also includes a significant collection of feminist periodicals, produced by feminists groups in Canada.The Canadian Slovak Archives area contains more than 30 archival fonds from individuals and organizations that documents Slovak immigration, as well as highlights the community's role and impact in both Canada and United States. It also includes a vast collections of periodicals. The Literary Archives area includes archival fonds and collections documenting the work of various writers in French and in Canadian Literature in the second half of the 19th and the 20th centuries. Other fonds are linked to different areas of expertise as the University of Ottawa, such as music and information science.
