The fonds consists of various materials related to Sylvia Spring's involvement as an activist, filmmaker, and conference speaker. It contains various types of textual, graphic, audio and video documents. It is divided into six series. The first series contains various material related to women’s issues. It includes posters, buttons, and stamps collections. The second series shows Sylvia Spring's various interventions in national and international conferences. The third series contains publications as comic books, dealing with topics related to women and the law, which texts were written by Sylvia Spring. The fourth series consists of records related to Sylvia Spring’s involvement to improve representation of women in the media. It reflects her implication in the MediaWatch organisation. The fifth series highlights Sylvia Spring’s films and productions as “Madeleine is…” (1969-1971), “Breaking the Silence. Stories from Aids Activists” (1996), “20th Century Gals (According to Babe)” (2000). It includes photographs of her meetings with different women filmmakers. The sixth series contains materials collected by Sylvia Spring on issues related to violence against women and includes Sylvia Spring’s documentaries on “Razor's Edge. The Controversy of Female Genital Mutilation” (2005) and “Our bodies… their battleground. Gender Based Violence During Conflict” (2004).

Documents are related to her activities within the Women's Research Centre in Vancouver, the International Women's Day Committee in Vancouver, The International Women's Day Committee in Toronto and the In Struggle Group and periodical. It contains minutes of meetings, articles, reports, copies of the In Struggle! publication, and information about the relationship between socialism, communism, and feminism. This fonds also contains material related to labour union strikes by women workers, including hospital workers, factory workers, and postal workers.

This fonds contains records for the Regional Coordinating Committee to End Violence Against Women (RCCEVAW) from 1984 until 2006, when they changed their name to the Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW). The fonds includes administrative records and correspondence related to the RCCEVAW steering committee, their numerous subcommittees and task forces, and the organizations that grew out of their work. The RCCEVAW also collected records related to violence against women, including research material, newspaper clippings, policy documents, police protocol, and more.

This fonds documents Barbara Roberts’ work in helping organize the Peace Tent at the United Nations’ Third World Conference on the status of women in Kenya, Nairobi. The fonds contains research material accrued by Barbara Roberts, including audio recordings of the Peace Tent sessions and session transcripts as well as a limited amount of correspondence and notes created in the preparation of a prospective book on the Peace Tent. The fonds includes buttons, many of which were worn at the Peace Tent.

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom: Ontario Branches fonds contains the records of the organization’s Ottawa and Toronto branches, dating predominantly from the late 1970s-early 2000s. The fonds contains administrative and project records and includes branch governance records, reflective of efforts to establish an official WILPF Canada Section. The fonds especially documents the branches’ coordinated actions at local and international levels to further the 1980s’ disarmament movement, including its involvement in the STAR (Stop the Arms Race) Campaign and campaigns to cease NATO flight testing over Innu territory, as well as other coordinated marches and rallies. The fonds’ administrative series reflects WILPF’s reporting relationships to international headquarters as well as its affiliation with local peace organizations. The fonds includes records from International Congresses and correspondence with other WILPF sections and branches.
