Ce fonds offre un panorama complet sur la formation universitaire et l’évolution de la carrière professionnelle de Monique Frize en tant qu’ingénieure, professeure et chercheuse. Il met en lumière ses champs d’intérêts et d’expertise, ses projets de recherches et ses réalisations.

Le fonds documente les premières recherches de Monique Frize en génie biomédical lors de sa carrière d’ingénieure exercée dans les hôpitaux dans les années 70 et 80. Il fournit notamment des informations sur son implication dans l’International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) dans les années 80, notamment dans son groupe de travail et sa division spécialisés dans l’ingénierie clinique. Le fonds témoigne des activités de Monique Frize à titre de présidente de la Chaire nationale Northern Telecom/CRSNG sur les femmes en génie à l'Université du Nouveau-Brunswick (1989-1997). Monique Frize était membre de l'organisation WISE et les dossiers reflètent le soutien qu'elle apporta à titre de présidente au chapitre WISE d'Ottawa-Carleton et à la section étudiante d'Ottawa. Certains dossiers documentent également sa participation aux activités, à la collecte de fonds et à la promotion du programme Pathmakers d'Ottawa-Carleton. Une section du fonds comprend des documents relatifs à la création et au développement de l’International Network of women engineers and scientists (INWES) dont Monique Frize fut l’un des membres fondateurs et présidente de 2002 à 2008. Cette section contient également de documents relatifs à l’INWES Education Research Institute (ERI), dont Monique Frize est également l’une des fondatrices et présidente depuis 2007.

Monique Frize a publié plusieurs ouvrages. The fonds documents Frize’s earlier research in Clinical Engineering during her career as biomedical engineer in hospitals. It provides information on Frize’s involvement in the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) in the 1980s, especially in its Clinical Engineering working group and division. The fonds reports Monique Frize’s activities as chair holder of the national Northern Telecom/NSERC Chair on women in Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (1989-1997). It provides information on the Canadian Committee on Women in Engineering’s (CCWE) function, activities and researches (1990-1995). Furthermore, the fonds gives a highlight on Monique Frize’s activities as chair holder of Ontario NSERC/Nortel joint chair for women in science and engineering (1997-2002). It documents also her position as Professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University, in the School of Information Technology and Engineering at the University of Ottawa. The records related to Frize’s academic career consist of reports, administrative records, correspondence, papers and conference proceedings, research project descriptions, grant applications. The files are related to collaboration with researchers and students, involvement in various scientific and professional committees, researches in biomedical engineering, researches on women in science and engineering.

The fonds higlights Monique Frize’s dedication to support women and girls to pursue a career in non-traditional fields, more specifically in the areas of sciences and engineering. It includes resource materials on federal organisation, national and international associations and committees, universities and schools programs involved in the promotion of women in science and engineering. Monique Frize was member of the WISE organisation and records reflect the support she provides as chair holder to the Ottawa-Carleton WISE Chapter and the Ottawa Student Branch. Some files documents also her involvement in the Ottawa-Carleton Pathmakers program’s activities, fundraising and promotion. As a founding member and president (2002-2008) of International Network of women engineers and scientists (INWES), Monique Frize produced and received organizational documents kept in this fonds. Records from INWES Education Research Institute attest also of her involvement in the creation of the Institute, and of her activities as president.

Monique Frize published several books. The fonds contains various versions of manuscripts and resource materials mostly for the publication of the books The Bold and The Brave: A history of women in science and engineering (2009) and Laura Bassi and Science in 18th Century Europe (2013).

Most of the archival material are in the form of textual records, but it also includes a large number of audio and video tapes that documented interviews with Monique Frize, speeches, conferences and products that she had created. Certificates, award plaques and framed photographs illustrate many awards and distinctions received by Monique Frize during her career.

The fonds documents Valerie Overend’s career and her involvement in promoting girls and women in non traditional careers, as well as in science, technology and engineering. The fonds mainly consists of graphic and textual records. It includes training programs, curricula, workshop materials, survey and reports, essays, and publications.

Series 1 to 10 consists of resources used by Valerie Overend in her own research and work to produce informational and educational materials. Some documents were created by/or in collaboration with Valerie Overend. However, most of the documents have been produced by other authors and related organizations.

Series 11 through 17 consist of records that document Valerie Overend's work and accomplishments in developing various programs and initiatives that engaged her over 25 years. They contain youth and adult projects and programs, presentations and workshops. They inform about Valerie Overend’s interventions in various conferences, roundtables, and summits. Briefs, articles, and opinion pieces are also included.

Le fonds consiste en de la documentation collectée par l'artiste cj fleury et Mary Faught dans le cadre de la réalisation du projet Enclave. Le fonds comprend des documents textuels et des graphiques qui portent sur le déploiement du projet, son processus de création et sur sa réception auprès du public. Il inclut des descriptions du projet, des communications entre différentes parties prenantes, des communiqués et des coupures de presse.

Enclave est un monument public créé par cj fleury (artiste en arts visuels) en collaboration avec Mary Leigh Faught, (architecte paysagiste, AAPO, AAPC). L’œuvre est le résultat d’une commande pour la création d’un monument en hommage aux femmes violentées et assassinées par des hommes dans la région de la capitale nationale du Canada. Le projet a été lancé par Women’s Urgent Action, dont plusieurs membres travaillent en étroite collaboration avec les femmes victimes de violence dans les refuges et le système judiciaire. Le monument a été dévoilé le 6 décembre 1992, à l'occasion de la Journée nationale de commémoration et d'action contre la violence faite aux femmes.

Cj fleury et Mary Faught ont été invitées à présenter leur travail en lien avec le Monument des femmes contre la violence à la conférence nationale du Women’s Caucus for Art aux États-Unis, à la School for Studies in Art and Architecture de l’université Carleton, à l’université du Québec à Montréal, et au groupe de développement des arts du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario.

The fonds consists of documentation collected by artist cj fleury and Mary Faught as part of the Enclave project. The fonds includes textual documents and graphic materials on the deployment of the project, its creative process and its reception by the public. It includes descriptions of the project, some communication between various stakeholders, press releases and press clippings.

Enclave is a public monument created by cj fleury (visual artist) and Mary Leigh Faught (landscape architect, AAPO, AAPC). The work is the result of a commission to create a monument to women abused and murdered by men in Canada's National Capital Region. The project was initiated by Women's Urgent Action, several of whose members work closely with abused women in shelters and the justice system. The monument was unveiled on December 6, 1992, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Cj fleury and Mry Faught were invited to present her work on the Women's Monument to Violence at the Women's Caucus for Art national conference in the U.S., at Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Architecture, at the Université du Québec à Montréal, and at the Ontario Arts Council's Arts Development Group.
