Researching Careers in Information Technology for Women

This file contains a final report submitted by Canadian Career Development Foundation for The Software human Resource Council in May, 2005. The Software Resource Council (SHRC) is a not-for-profit sector council established in 1992. It undertook a research project, Research Careers in Information Technology to address the career awareness, recruitment and retention issues surrounding women and the information technology (IT) sector.

The fonds consists of records related mainly to the organization and planning of the 2011 Women's Worlds Congress held at the University of Ottawa, co-chaired by Professor Caroline Andrew. Records relate to funding and financial support, financial auditing, and planning and include meeting minutes, reports, correspondence etc. Included also are handouts from the congress, final reports and summary documents from after the congress was held. The fonds also contains some records related to prior and subsequent Women's World Congresses.

The Women’s Worlds congress was the first world-wide interdisciplinary gathering to focus on research pertaining to women’s issues and started in 1981. WW takes place every three years in a different part of the world.

Le fonds comprend des documents liés principalement à l'organisation et à la planification du Congrès mondial des femmes de 2011 qui s'est tenu à l'Université d'Ottawa, sous la coprésidence de la professeure Caroline Andrew. Les documents portent sur le financement et le soutien financier, l'audit financier et la planification et comprennent des procès-verbaux de réunions, des rapports, de la correspondance, etc. On y trouve également des documents distribués lors du congrès, des rapports finaux et des documents de synthèse postérieurs à la tenue du congrès. Le fonds contient également des documents relatifs à des congrès mondiaux des femmes antérieurs et ultérieurs.

Le congrès Women's Worlds a été le premier rassemblement interdisciplinaire mondial à se concentrer sur la recherche concernant les questions relatives aux femmes et a débuté en 1981. Il a lieu tous les trois ans dans une région différente du monde.
