This fonds consists of material relating to the Women of Impact in the Canadian Materials, Metallurgy, and Mining Fields oral history research project. It contains audio and video interviews of 18 women pioneers and leaders in the fields of mining, metallurgy and materials. It also contains interview transcripts, and the Women of Impact book which profiles each of the interviewees.

This fonds consists of the administrative records of the conception of the Service Office Retail Workers Union of Canada (SORWUC) Local 7 in Ottawa from its beginnings in 1982 as part of reason for change particularly addressing inequality faced by women in the workplace in various aspects. It features correspondence, advertisements to join the union, pieces of bargaining and negotiation, member contact information. Also included are resources such as newspaper clippings, pamphlets, booklets, buttons, and articles on various subjects as used and promoted by members of SORWUC.

The fonds consists of various materials related to Sylvia Spring's involvement as an activist, filmmaker, and conference speaker. It contains various types of textual, graphic, audio and video documents. It is divided into six series. The first series contains various material related to women’s issues. It includes posters, buttons, and stamps collections. The second series shows Sylvia Spring's various interventions in national and international conferences. The third series contains publications as comic books, dealing with topics related to women and the law, which texts were written by Sylvia Spring. The fourth series consists of records related to Sylvia Spring’s involvement to improve representation of women in the media. It reflects her implication in the MediaWatch organisation. The fifth series highlights Sylvia Spring’s films and productions as “Madeleine is…” (1969-1971), “Breaking the Silence. Stories from Aids Activists” (1996), “20th Century Gals (According to Babe)” (2000). It includes photographs of her meetings with different women filmmakers. The sixth series contains materials collected by Sylvia Spring on issues related to violence against women and includes Sylvia Spring’s documentaries on “Razor's Edge. The Controversy of Female Genital Mutilation” (2005) and “Our bodies… their battleground. Gender Based Violence During Conflict” (2004).

La troisième série contient des publications sous forme de bandes dessinées, traitant de sujets liés aux femmes et au droit, dont les textes ont été écrits par Sylvia Spring. La quatrième série est constituée de documents relatifs à l'implication de Sylvia Spring dans l'amélioration de la représentation des femmes dans les médias. This collection contains records in various formats; including original organizational records, posters, buttons, t-shirts, flyers, publications, etc., from more than 2,000 Canadian women’s organizations, conferences and individuals. The records date from 1960 up until the mid-1990s and were collected by the Collective of the Canadian Women's Movement Archives. Material dated after 1992 was added after the CWMA collection was donated to the University of Ottawa Library (see Immediate Source of Acquisition for more detail).

The fonds documents the general organization of the publishing press and activities of its different collectives. It contains manuscripts of published texts with records related to the selection, illustration, edition, and publication process. It also includes some unpublished manuscripts with related correspondence. The fonds contains also financial records and documents the distribution process. To promote women authors and their literary works, the publishing house participated in various book fairs and conferences. The press also produced catalogues, press releases, flyers, and posters, preserved in the fonds. The last series consists of Maureen FitzGerald's records. They concern the period when Maureen FitzGerald worked as managing editor of the Women's Press.
