The Ideal Girl

This item consists of a white postcard with a colour design of a man and woman talking and text: "There is a girl who is no prude / Addresses you may pay to her / She never thinks a man is rude / Whatever he may say to her. / She's stone deaf!" This postcard is part of the B.B. London Series no. E59 and is printed in Germany.

This collection contains records in various formats; including original organizational records, posters, buttons, t-shirts, flyers, publications, etc., from more than 2,000 Canadian women’s organizations, conferences and individuals. The records date from 1960 up until the mid-1990s and were collected by the Collective of the Canadian Women's Movement Archives. Material dated after 1992 was added after the CWMA collection was donated to the University of Ottawa Library (see Immediate Source of Acquisition for more detail).

This item consists of a postcard with design of woman getting up from a chair with text on recto: "The Club Woman / 'Mid a clatter of tea-cups and spoons / And an atmosphere suited for swoons, / The President hen / Rails at the men, / And talks of prisms and prunes." Inscribed in blue ink on recto: A club is all right in its place. Find the place. Inscribed on verso: "Miss June (?) Robinson, Stevensville."

Valentine Greetings

This item consists of a postcard with design of woman in green dress and black coat holding a green book with text on recto: "Valentine greetings / Back to the background / Be careful, men, of the advocate / Of woman's rights in the single state. / If you marry one, / Your trouble's begun - / You'll count for less than half your weight!" This postcard is part of Raphael Tuck & Sons Valentine Post Card, Series no. 5, Art Publishers to their Majesties the King and Queen.
