Canadian Institute for Caribbean and Latin American Studies (1/2)

This file contains records relating to the Canadian Institute for Caribbean and Latin American Studies (CICLAS), founded 1987/88, including copies of the constitution. In 1988, Carl Whittaker, a Concordia University graduate, invited Greta Hofmann Nemiroff to join the executive of an organization he was founding with some other interested Caribbean Canadians: the Canadian Institute for Caribbean and Latin American Studies (CICLAS). Meetings were often held at Dawson College and Greta Hofmann Nemiroff served as secretary of the CICLAS for a little over a year before she moved to Ottawa.

CPCC - Gender and Peacebuilding Working Group (GPWG)

This file contains records relating to the Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee's (CPCC) Gender and Peacebuilding Working Group (GPWG), including a list of members, correspondence, meeting minutes, the streering committee meeting agendas, budget summaries, as well as relevant resources produced and used. Greta Hofmann-Nemiroff was a member of the Steering Committe of the GPWG, and was involved in preparing a response by Canada in its implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security, working on the consultation for the Canadian Council on Refugees and other related group endeavours. Also included is a leaflet from the UN's Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 1993.
