Fonds consists of correspondence, reports, papers and a variety of other materials pertaining to the interests and activities of Madeleine Gilichrist. The fonds is divided into nine series according to common subjects, groups, research and events. These include: Midwifery and Reproduction; FRAPPE : Conferences and Papers; Canadian Feminist Issues, Groups and Events; National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) Material; Global Issues and Events; International Conflicts and Peace Initiatives; Voice of Women (VOW) and Women for Mutual Security (WMS) Material; Beijing Women's Conference; and Women for Peace and Freedom.
Series consists of a review, newspaper clippings, a booklet, articles, correspondence, briefs, reports, pamphlets, flyers, and other material pertaining to pregnancy, abortion and midwifery.
File consists of six newspapers on the topic of abortion, specifically concerning Dr. Morgentaler's acquittal and a supreme court decision to provide Canadian women with unrestricted access to legal abortion on the account that they are able to find a willing doctor.
File consists of various articles, briefs, reports, photocopies of Charter 235 (An Act Respecting the Practice of Midwifery) and a newsletter, and correspondence pertaining to the recognition of midwifery as a legal health care profession.

Series consists of conference packages for the "Premier Sommet Mondial sur les Femmes = First world Summit on Women" organized by Femmes regroupées pour l'accessibilité aux pouvoirs politique et économique (FRAPPE) in 1990, pamphlets, correspondence, an address by Monica Barnes, workshop material, photocopies of newspaper clippings, papers, affirmative action kits, programs and other material pertaining to FRAPPE. FRAPPE was a non-profit and non-partisan organization that aimed to encourage and help women attain political and economic power.
File consist of a conference package for the Premier Sommet Mondial sur les Femmes (First World Summit on Women) from August 3 to June 8 1990. The package includes pamphlets, brochures, correspondence, list of members and some budgetary information.
