The fonds consists of records related to the activities of the National Association of Women and the Law, its Steering Committee and Caucus'. Records are related to NAWL publications, conferences, administration, history and various issues. The fonds is broken down into nine series.

Records related to various issues

Series consists of records related to various topics, issues and activities in which NAWL was interested or participated in (including consultations), such as amendments to the Canada Pension Plan, Social Security Benefits, the Federal Budget, the Divorce Act, violence against women, crime, the Meech Lake Accord and the Constitution, etc. The series also includes records from various external groups and committees that NAWL members were part of, including the Women's World March 2000. The records include position papers and statements, background information and research as well as correspondence with various groups, organizations, and the Government. Some of the records were used by NAWL in preparation for government consultations on various issues.

Briefs, papers and publications

The series consists of copies of briefs, addresses, and papers written and prepared by/for the National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL) and its regional caucuses (groups), and by its members. The series includes copies of NAWL publications that were available for purchase. Note that many of the briefs in this series were written for and presented at the NAWL biennial conferences or at workshops.
The series also contains papers collected by NAWL on various legal issues which were used for reference purposes.
