SS4 - Giving Birth is just the Beginning: Women Speak About Mothering (1985, 1986) / Donner naissance n’est qu’un début : Les femmes parlent de maternité (1985, 1986)

This subseries contains records related to the exhibition "Giving Birth is just the Beginning: Women Speak About Mothering". It was exposed at the Toronto Photographers Workshop in 1986, at the Photographers Union, Steelworkers’ Hall, in Hamilton in Ontario, at the Eye Photography Gallery in San Francisco, at the Dazibao Photography Gallery in Montreal in 1985. In this project, Judith Lemer Crawley talked with the women of the photographs in response to photographs in which they appeared. She looked "more closely at these issues: extracts from interviews with the subjects of the photographs were printed as part of one image lining text and visual". She raised funds to produce the book version of the project which was accomplished collaboratively.

Cette sous-série contient des documents relatifs à l'exposition "Donner naissance n'est que le début : Les femmes parlent de maternité ". L’exposition a été présentée au Toronto Photographers Workshop en 1986, au Photographers Union, Steelworkers' Hall à Hamilton en Ontario, à la Eye Photography Gallery à San Francisco, à la Galerie Dazibao à Montréal en 1985. Dans ce projet, Judith Lemer Crawley accompagne chacune de ses prises de vue de textes tirés d’entrevues menées avec ses sujets abordant des questions relatives à la vie des femmes en tant que mères. Elle a recueilli des fonds pour produire un livre réalisé en collaboration avec son entourage.
