Scope and content

This is an audiovisual recording of a presentation "Connecting the Issues of Violence," delivered by Mauda Barlow at the Connections Conference, hosted by NOWDC. The Connections Conference took place in Thunder Bay, the first conference bringing together shelter workers and educational experts. Funded by the Secretary of State Women's Program, the film opens with general administrative information and speeches from Brooks Rapley from the Ministry of Education and Leni Untinen of the Women's Decade Council. Maude Barlow's opening presentation focuses on the connections between violence and other issues such as poverty and childhood violence. She also speaks to the lack of real improvement for women in Canada including equity, women's programs funding, and especially free trade agreements.
